In order to achieve a smooth going of the next election for new board of directors and supervisors, who will have two-year tenure of office, Taiwan Industrial Fasteners Institute (TIFI) held the 17th edition of preliminary conference on July 28 with the attendance of 48 reps from northern Taiwan, 31 from central Taiwan, and 51 from the 1st district of southern Taiwan, and 194 from the 2nd district of southern Taiwan. 273 reps in total will attend the General Assembly in Kaohsiung on Dec. 19 and vote for the new directors and supervisors, including the new chairman.

Incumbent Chairman Joe Chen and Vice Chairman Thomas Chang Both Recognize Diligence and Business Strategy of Taiwan Fastener Industry

According to the statistics of TIFI, Taiwan’s fastener export during the first half of this year grew 6%. Chairman Chen said that it is valuable for Taiwan fastener industry to achieve such a great result under the trade environment with fierce competition. He admired the effort of fellow members and appreciated their support to TIFI, so TIFI could perform really well and gain more strength to speak for fellow members and offer service.

Vice chairman Thomas Chang, on the other hand, endorsed the way Taiwan fastener industry is going toward for increasing the value of fasteners. During the “Five Region Fastener Association Conference” in April, representatives from Japan and Korea reported that their fastener exports merely shared approx. 15% of their total sales and most of the fasteners manufactured were for domestic demand due to their well-built and booming automotive industries. Most of Taiwanese manufacturers showing growth in exports also turn to focus on the automotive industry as a way to increase the value of their products. Mr. Chang also appreciates the quality, prices, and lead times of Taiwanese fasteners, all of which make Taiwan be still competitive in the entire market.
