2013-04-11
International Fastener Show Tainan Taiwan (IFST), a major event of Taiwan fastener industry, will be held today (April 11). Mr. Steven Fang, advisor of Taiwan Fastener Trading Association (TFTA) and former chief commissioner of TFTA International Committee and president of FASCON CORPORATION, thinks that the show will bring about substantial business opportunities. Besides, the making of the show gathers ideas of all members of TFTA. IFST is a landmark fair combining academia, education, and esthetics both domestically and internationally.

Mr. Fang points out that in terms of booth counts and exhibitor counts, IFST is no doubt the largest domestic fastener show with large variety. The show gathers makers and traders from all parts of Taiwan and even the downstream metal hardware distributors. In addition, the organizer arranged city tour and factory tour as well as 19 international fastener seminar speeches starting from April 11th. The seminars invite world-known scholars, procuring CEOs and academia professionals to talk about market trends and technological development. Some critical speeches include those given by Mr. Thomas Klenk (Executive Vice President of Wuerth Group, the world’s largest screw maker), and Dr. Chih-Ming Chen of National Chin-Yi University of Technology who was the one and only to present screw inspection thesis. The seminar comes with simultaneous interpretation.

Mr. Fang stresses that Taiwan fastener industry has been through half a century to develop into an extremely mature production environment with geographical advantages to satisfy buyers’ demands in terms of delivery speed. Therefore, over the past ten years, the industry has shaped up a good image in European and American markets. Taiwan fastener companies can not only deliver products in time but also guarantee product quality.

Mr. Fang states that currently Taiwan fastener makers focus on standard parts and customized special products. To head for high added-value products, recently a few companies are developing high-end technology such as aerospace fasteners and fasteners made from titanium alloy. If Taiwan is to catch up with globalization, companies should keep on upgrading self-detection ability, and continuously develop and introduce new inspection equipment to cope with more and more rigorous international quality certification.
