Currently there are over 10 thousand building hardware industries in China (representing 25% of the entire hardware industry). In 2010, China’s building hardware and other hardware industries all saw revenue gains and the building hardware industry ranked the third place with 27% growth rate. According to China’s Customs, the import value of building hardware in China in 2010 reached US$10.684 billion (up 22.6% over the same period). The import value of hinges used for doors and windows even reached 47.3% growth rate.

The export value of building hardware in China in 2010 was US$22.841 billion (representing 39.7% of the total export value of the entire hardware industry, US$57.511 billion), up 32.2% over the same period. Hinges showed the largest growing percentage to 38.9%, followed by nails, fiber, and nets (up 36.3% over the same period).
