The novel Coronavirus continues to spread. As part of China's fight against it, Toyota and Honda announced to temporarily halt production in China until February 9, 2020.

Toyota has a plant in northern Tianjin City and southern Guangdong Province. Beside the announcement to halt production, Toyota took directions from Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and asked its employees not go to China unless necessary. When asked about the impact that could come with the halt, Maki Niimi, spokesperson for Toyota, said, "It's hard to make any comments because the automotive industry has a large scope of supply chain and there are numerous types of parts used on cars."

Honda has plants in the suburbs of Shanghai and it also advised employees to avoid going to China.
