by Senior Director Mr. Yoshikazu Oiso,

The Fasteners Institute of Japan (FIJ)

The Five Regions Fastener Association Conference this year was held at Prince Hotel in Sapporo City of Japan from October 19th to 20th. The conference mainly consisted of a representatives meeting and a views exchange dinner gala.

1. Representatives Meeting:

The representatives meeting was held on October 19 and agreements were made as follows.

(1) The next conference will be held in China.

(2) The organizer should announce the conference’s theme, content, form, scale, and number of attendees 6 months before the conference takes place. The organizer should take on the project while taking opinions from each region’s association.

(3) The requirement for entrance fee will be decided by the organizer.

2. Views Exchange Dinner Gala:

The views exchange dinner gala was held at Prince Hotel in Sapporo on October 20. There were a total of 121 attendees (33 representatives from Japan, 32 from Taiwan, 15 from Hong Kong, 22 from China, 13 from South Korea, as well as 6 interpreters). The conference kicked off with FIJ Chairman Mr. Shoichiro Tsubaki’s speech, which referred to 2 proposals:

(1) Further strengthening mutual understanding among associations;

(2) Fostering views exchange between each individual attendee.

Next, he began to introduce the activities of FIJ. After that, attendees of each region were divided and seated onto their respective tables where they could come face to face exchanging business cards, and introducing themselves and their companies. Although some tables were less vibrant due to language barriers among the attendees, the first attempt of views exchange led to a certain extent of understanding between each other.
