Caipirinhas, Sunny Beaches and Businesses in Oil & Gas
Add to my favorite
2013-05-20
The heat climate in Brazil is hot, but is not just because of its sunny beaches. Right now the mode are the Business Beaches, but this is not so close to sands with tents that sell coconut water, *caipirinha and others drinks. This Business Beach is a long distance, approximately 300 or 500 kilometers from coast, and kilometers under the deep sea.
The new beach is known as Oil & Gas market segment that has, each time more, a lot of interested international companies. Different from other producers of petroleum and gases, as everybody knows, in Brazil this commodity is extracted from depths of the sea.
However, the National Petróleo Agency, a Federal Government organization, already determinated some time ago that some percentages from services and products used on searching & developing Oil & Gas sector should be made in Brazil. In some cases the percentage achieves 70% of items. So, some interested international companies are searching for new options, and this is reflecting on the fastener market, too.
Recently a French company, through an agent, searched the redaction of our magazine [Revista do Parafuso] seeking for a company that could sell fasteners "Made in Brazil" and they achieved the percentage required on a new business where they had been winners. The Lamons, North-American fastener manufacturer bought the brazilian Cifal, a very important supplier of fasteners to Petrobras Company. Other companies, in the coming months, may make news deals, like joint ventures, new acquisitions or open new plants to produce here.

*Caipirinha is the famous brazilian drink made with pinga, lemon and sugar.
