Fontana Group Announced Construction of Industrial Plant in Brazil

This industrial plant, announced in April, will be the first of Italian company in Latin America, and it will produce fasteners for the automotive industry
Headquartered in Fontana Luigi, Italy 62 years ago, the Fontana Group is a most important global fastener maker in the manufacture of fasteners. It employs approximately 2,500 people in 12 plants located in Italy, one in the United States and one in France. Together, they produce 200 thousand tons of fasteners per year.
Since last April, the group informed that it will build its first industrial plant, located in Mogi Guaçu city with 170 km distance from São Paulo capital where it will produce high-strength fasteners for the automotive industry, and auto parts.
According to a statement issued by the SP Invest, the Press-Office, the initial investment will be more than US$ 15 million, reaching US$ 45 million in the next five years.  The place area is about 160,000 square meters, in which there will be 12,000 square meters of covered area, and 15,000 square meters uncovered. In the later stage of the project, it is expected that the facility will triple, reaching 40,000 square meters in total of covered area.
"Until recently, we served our customers in Brazil through a partner company, which used our know-how in the same type of production. Now we enter the Brazilian market with our own products ", explains the statutory director of the company in Brazil, Mr. Paulo Solimeo. Initially, they will hire 110 employees and five years after the start of production, there will be plus 40 workers. Most of the employees of production will be composed of those that will work in cold forging, while about 40% of employees will work in the offices, warehouse and logistics. Therefore, the courses in Industrial Automation and Logistics, all from Escola Técnica Estadual (State Technical School) inside Mogi-Guaçu will be critical for the development of the company in Brazil.
According to Mr. Luiz Carlos Quadrelli, Secretary of Economic Development, Science and Technology, of São Paulo state government, this plant will heat the region's economy. "In addition to generating new jobs and income, production will also be aimed at enterprises of the automotive industry in our state already installed, which will add investments to the local market " he said. Still according to the president of Invest SP, Mr. Luciano Almeida, the region was crucial for the company nearby major transport routes. "The infrastructure of highways in the state, the capacity of the Santos Harbour and its airports, as well as its privileged logistics, were also key factors in choosing the state of São Paulo for investment," he explained.
