According to the latest data by AutoForecast Solutions (AFS), microchip shortage has led to a drop of 1.98 million vehicles in production in the Chinese market by December 5. The world's automotive production decreased 10.12 million vehicles in total. AFS predicts the Chinese market will produce 2.14 million fewer vehicles in the whole year which accounts for 19% of the world's reduction.

The vice secretary chief of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said microchip shortage eased up in the third quarter but that the shortage remains evident. The deficiency is expected to continue for some time until the second half of 2022 with higher market demand in the fourth quarter, and eventually come down to a tight balance.
