Some fasteners are extremely applicable to construction industry. The configuration of fastener is closely related to its function, appearance and structural function and complete assembly. When fastener configuration plays a vital role of performance, APA specifications make significance. Corrosion resistance of fasteners is extremely important for construction applications, which are exposed to the weather or other high moisture conditions, especially when the wood is treated. Hot-dipped galvanized coating of steel fastener is sacrificial protective layer. When corrosion is occurred, zinc will corrode to protect steel. Zinc protective feature will be gradually lost after some time under moisture and corrosive environment. Under high salt spray test, hot-dipped galvanized screw head will completely corrode. However, aluminum fastener is not applicable to wood, treated by pressure preservative or high corrosive environment.
