2015-09-07

Following the complaint of local Mexican manufacturers, Mexican government has launched the investigation on Sep. 02 against steel wires originating in China. 3 Mexican leading companies (ArcelorMittal Las Truchas, Deacero, and Ternium Mexico) claimed that the prices of imported Chinese steel products are lower than the prices of similar products sold in domestic China, thus causing injury to Mexican local manufacturers. That is why they asked for launching an anti-dumping investigation. A nation-owned Mexican enterprise said such an unfair competition has forced them to lay off thousands of employees. Since this July, Mexican government has begun to levy taxes on imported steel products from Asia and will reinforce controls at the Customs.
