With the investment of approximately US$ 500 million, Mercedes-Benz (MB) announced on Feb. 5, 2015 the start of construction of its 3rd industrial plant in Brazil, located in Iracemápolis of the São Paulo state, 150 km away from the capital. This unit is set to be operational in January 2016, which will become the only automotive company that manufactures trucks, buses, vans and cars in Brazil. "MB Iracemápolis" will produce the models C-Class and SUV GLA. The capacity will be 20 thousand units per year, according to the statement of Philipp Schiemer, chairman of MB in Brazil and CEO of the group in Latin America, during an event in which Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, the governor of São Paulo state, was received.
