A car market consulting firm, Jato Dynamics, released the data and reported that even though Brazilian car sales in 2014 dropped by 6.9%, the country will still maintain its position as the 4th largest car sales market in the world. Jato Dynamics included 27 major markets into the ranking. The data reveal that China is still the largest car sales market and the sales in China last year reached 21 million units, up 8.8% over 2013. USA is in the 2nd place with the sales of 16.5 million units, up 5.9% from the previous period.

China and USA are the largest two car sales markets, which both drag Japan in the 3rd place far behind (5.5 million new cars were sold in Japan last year). In 2014 3.32 million new cars were sold in Brazil, which is ranked the 4th place. Germany is ranked the 5th with the sales of 3.26 million units, up 3.2% from the previous period. In 2014, the car sales of Russia and Australia declined 10.5% and 2.1% respectively, with the sales of 2.48 million units in Russia and 1.08 million units in Australia. Spain, after getting through the crisis in 2008, showed the growth of 21% in car sales last year and its total car sales reached 0.9719 million units.

In 2014 car manufacturers with top 2 car sales records were Toyota and Volkswagen. Toyota sold 6.3 million units (-0.6% over 2013) while Volkswagen sold 6 million new cars (-0.3% over 2013). U.S. Ford is ranked the 3rd place with the sales of 5.4 million units, up 0.8% from the previous period. In addition to the top 3, other car manufacturers with good sales results in sequence are Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai, Honda, Kia, Renault, and Fiat.
