Baosteel’s Vice President predicted on a public conference held on 11/02 that the steel price in Q4 would not show a substantial increase and the supply and demand would become balanced. He pointed out that the main task in Q4 is to retain stability because China will encounter a series of difficulties such as annual overhaul and high manufacturing cost. However, many analysts have different opinions. For them, China steel industry continues to be influenced by the policy of energy saving, and therefore the utility of capacity is lowered, causing the result of de-stocking. Generally speaking, the supply and demand in Q4 will become balanced with only a slight increase.
