2012 TFTA Annual Meeting - A Member Assembly Event to Welcome a New Era for Next Year

The 2012 Taiwan Fastener Trading Association (TFTA) Annual Member Meeting was grandly held in Queena Plaza Hotel in Tainan, Taiwan on December 6th. This year the meeting invited “Variety Group of the Impaired” on stage for the first time. Their heart-touching performance made audience shed tears. This lively and heart-warming event was fully attended with members and guests from the industry.
To kick off the meeting, chairman Jim C.N. Chen reported on TFTA’s activities within 2012, including friendship meetings in northern and mid-Taiwan, international events held by European Fastener Distributor Association (EFDA) and National Fastener Distributor Association (NFDA) etc., and five seminars held by Board of Education, all fully attended by enthusiastic members. Furthermore, TFTA will hold the International Fastener Show in Tainan, Tawain in April, 2013. It is expected to attract numerous foreign buyers and create even broader B2B trading platform.
Additionally, he called on everyone to not follow the bad example of a company in Malaysia, which attempted to export China products to Europe through Taiwan. If the EU officials discover the conduct, dumping duty will be imposed on the company. This will result in the damage to the credibility of Taiwan fastener industry. TFTA advisor Tammy Huang also talked about European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) currently investigating in Taiwan on the anti-dumping of China carbon steel bolts exproting to Europe. They are inspecting export information of every container sold to main countries of EU in the last 4 years. If any anti-circumvention act is found, apunitive tax will be imposed. This will heavily damage Taiwan fastener industry and the supply chain of EU bolts.
“Variety Group of the Impaired” into the Groove
The meeting invited “Variety Group of the Impaired” for the first time. The group consists of different sorts of people with physical difficulties, and each person has his or her own life story mixed with tears and blood. On stage, they performed songs, band music and wheelchair dance and surprised the audience. As a finale, cerebral palsy singer Cheng Zhixian sang the song “Round of Applause” by Taiwanese pop diva Fong fei-fei, and the lingering melody moved people to tears.
Music Band Livened the Banquet to the Highest
A friendship banquet was held after the meeting introduced Sun Chen Fasteners Inc. and other forty-one new members. Tainan city mayor William Lai also attended the banquet. He praised the prosperity of fastener industry as well as the efforts made by members, praying for the success of the 2013 international fastener show. The banquet was liven up by a music band personally invited by chairman Jim C.N. Chen, and earned great feedback from participants.
