China Steel Made Another Victory in the Special Alloy Field with Its Successful Mass-production of High-Unit-Weight and High- Intensity Ti64 Wires

Subsequent to the successful development of titanium medium plate, Ti64 titanium alloy plate, pure titanium wire rod, hot-rolled titanium volume, China Steel continues its development on Ti64 titanium alloy wire rod. Ater overcoming many technical difficulties such as  of high-speed continuous rolling, it finally developed the high-qualty 9mm (in diameter)  Ti64 titanium alloy wire rod on November 27th, 2012. This signifies a another breakthrough for China Steel Group in the special alloy field, because the group aquired key materials for domestic industries and can offer them with more variety.  Ti64 titanium alloy is not only corrosion resistant but also has a tensile strength as high as1000MPa (3-fold of pure titanium), meaning that it is the strongest metal with lighter weight. It is widely used in petrochemistry, daily goods, automobile, biomedics and aerospace. It has higher deformation resistencethan pure titanium, and therefore is more prone to crack when hot-rolled.This makes it a more difficult material for hot treatment. Additionally, because the phisical characteristrics of titanium alloy is much more different from steel, the technology of using serial wire rod rolling machine to produce titanium alloy wire rods is a extremely challenging task. Therefore, foreign companies usually use reciprocating rolling machines to roll out small wire rods of 15 to 20kg unit weight.
