2012-07-20
The Volgorad plant of Severstal-Metiz produced 3611 tons of steel wire rope products in March 2012, a record amount for the entire post-perestroika period. Among the 3611 tons, most of the products were either general purpose ropes for cranes and hooks, or cables used in the domestic industry’s specialized enclosed structures.
Achieving high performance was the natural result of the introduction of the large-scale investment project "North-South", which has been implemented in the plant since December 2008. The modernization of equipment and optimal use of space and infrastructure have substantially improved production capacity, as well as leading in the development of a number of innovative products (7 new products and 20 advanced sizes) in 2011.
With regard to sales in 2011, Severstal-Metiz showed sales growth of about 6%, compared to 2010. Close cooperation between the development of engineering and distribution resulted in improved and integrated technical support for customers. "While production increased, this is a quantitative indicator. But, it was due to cost and quality changes in production processes: the introduction of innovative technologies, improving product quality, development of new types of cables and services. Our results proved that we have chosen the right direction which enabled us to lead in the Russian and global markets, "- said Oleg Vetel, CEO of Severstal-Metiz.
