Owning many brands such as L, CY, CYL, and LION internationally, providing fasteners used for THSRC and TRA, and accounting for 70% of the construction-used T. C. bolts domestic market in Taiwan, Chun Yu Works & Co., Ltd. achieved a turnover of NTD4,467 million in 2011, up 26.94% over 2010. The main growing force comes from automotive, railway, and construction fasteners and wire. Chun Yu has comprehensively conducted an e-integration with International Accounting Standard IFRS and implemented KPI objective management. Also, with new added machinery, expanded international marketing channels, and signs of reinvesting efficiency, the entire Chun Yu group reached a turnover of NTD10 billion last year. Vice Sales President Johnson Su, who has 37 years of experience in Chun Yu says, "10 years ago, Chun Yu started the development of the OEM, automotive fasteners and special products one step ahead of others. We expected to reach the turnover goal of NTD5 billion in 2012, and the entire Chun Yu group targets a turnover of NTD12 billion this year."
In addition to the CE certification of general construction fasteners in 2010, Chun Yu is specilzied in the steel fasteners markets in the US, Southeast Asia, China,and Central and South America. In early 2011, Chun Yu began to apply for the CE certification of large bolts for steel structure use. After acquiring the CE certification last July, the products have shown initial sales success in Europe. Chun Yu have 20 years of experience in manufacturing T. C. bolts, Manager of Fastener Export DIV Arthur Wu says, "The product was originally manufactured in accordance with the norms of the US and Japan; however, the EU has a strict standard on imported large bolts for steel structure construction and suppliers must acquire the certification before they can export products to Europe. But it is hard to acquire the certification." After acquiring the certification last year, it provides another choice for the local customers who only purchase in Europe. Because of its price competitiveness, the orders from Europe have been backed up to this April and the average monthly shipment amounts to100-200 tons. The level of Chun Yu’s certified steel structure 10.9HV large bolts has reached to M30; now it plans to updgrade its 10.9HRC certification from M27 to M30. If it is smooth going, it is expected to pass the certification by 2012. Also, its large bolts for bridge and steel construction can also be applied to wind power products and are successfully sold to Finland, Denmark, Sweden, the UK and France. Chun Yu is also planning to promote its rich experience of DACROMET for surface treatment and apply to the product. Wu says, "Even if the European market are not quite familiar with DACROMET, DACROMET has been applied to coatings in the US and Japanese steel construction fasteners for a long period of time. There is no doubt that it is safe and can achieve the same corrosion resistance as the Green Coat."
Small Screws Sales Grew 20%Establishing Collated Screws Plant Last Year
Customers have purchased small screws in Asia for a long time. Without relevant certifications, this product cannot enter the European public works field. Wu says, "Chun Yu applied for the CE certification of small screws to cooperate with customers then." The small screws sales of Chun Yu grew 20% last year, especially owing to the large demand from the construction of the UK’s Olympic venues in 2011. Moreover, the company has a complete product certification range, and the product are mainly sold to an European leading group which further distributes the sales to over 10 countries in Europe. In order to meet European customers’ need and quality standard, Chun Yu set up a factory specializing in collated screws production last year. The chain belts are easy to install with the multi-patented and multi-functional collated screw guns. Besides the functions of instant loading of chain belts, swift dismantling w/o hand tools, adjustability of the size, depth and rotation angle, and elongation of extension rods, the screw gun can be used as a general screw gun by dismantling the chain belt device. Currently the versatile screw guns are mainly sold to advanced countries with 20 cargoes per month. The company will further expand to the Australian market and the oligopolistic US market.
Developing Taiwan Parent Factory As the Group’s Global Logistics Center
Chun Yu (Anshan) Metal Products Co., Ltd. in China invested by Chun Yu launched its first official test run in November last year and expected to produce 3,000 tons of spheroidized wire per month in Q1 2012, 1/3 for its own use and the rest for local sales. After the second phase of the factory is completed in 2013, its output can reach 6,000 tons of spheroidized wire per month. Being close to Anshan Iron & Steel Group Corp., the factoy can obtain material easily and moreover, Anshan is the important city of China auto industry. These beneficial factors enable Chun Yu’s auto fasteners sales to grow. Setting up a factory in Dongguan a decade ago, Chun Yu has seen a 20% sales growth of its auto screws in recent years with a goal of replacing the imported auto screws. Not a long time ago, Chun Yu has developed high quality screws for automotive suspension and steering system. The company not only acquired the certification by the global leading suspension system company to become the first original auto steering system screws manufacturer in Taiwan but also cooperates with and supply to a company in Changchun. The products are provided to the original new cars and also are popular in the aftermarket. In recent years, Chun Yu has actively developed in various fields such as fastener components, tracks, automobiles, heavy machinery, collated screws and solar energy, wind power and other areas of green energy. To date its fastener components orders increase steadily.
Furthremore, Chun Yu estimates to set up a new plant in China and expands the existing 10 marketing offices to 50 offices in China, including China’s western region, in the next 3~5 years. "In addition to a vertical integration, Chun Yu estalishes horizontal strategic alliances to cooperate with big cooperations." Su says, “Chun Yu’s ‘quality’ and ‘reputation’ are favored by customers, at this stage Chun Yu focuses on the integration of Taiwan, Dongguan, Anshan, and other factories to direct production deployment to strengthen the economic and trade vertical integration in terms of ECFA and global logistics. Besides its CNC machining equipment and sample factory, Chun Yu also adds electroplating equipment and expands the operations and R&D department. Because the turnover of its Indonesian factory which supplies to Southeast Asia market increases sharply, it expands the Indonesian factory scale and increases talented people from Taiwan and China to support the foreign factory. Due to European sovereign debt crisis, Chun Yu gives more support to European customers. Meanwhile it plans to develop in the economic optimistic countries, such as the US, Central and South America and Southeast Asia. Chun Yu will adopt the eco-friendly concept design in each international exhibition this year. Purchasers can find Chun Yu’s newest products in Taiwan International Fastener Show in March, Fastener Fair Hannover in April, M-Tech Tokyo and DesignBuild Melbourne in June, and National Industrial Fastener & Mill Supply Expo in October.
