Japan Fastener Imports Posted over 10% Growth in 2011

According to the trade statistics of Ministry of Finance, Japan, Japan’s total imports of fastener products (HS: 7317~7318, 7415－ screws, bolts, nuts, washers, nails, and rivets) for the full year 2011 amounted to 310,300 tons with a y-o-y growth of 10.9% compared to the 279,800 tons in 2010; the import value totaled 81.903 billion yen, increasing 11.07% compared to the 73.737 billion yen in 2010. The exports of fastener products (HS: 7317~7318, 7415－ screws, bolts, nuts, washers, nails, and rivets) for the full year 2011 amounted to 323,500 tons with a y-o-y decline of 1.49% compared to the 328,400 tons in 2010; the export value totaled 254.355 billion yen, dropping 1.56% compared to the 258.374 billion yen in 2010.
