Taiwan wire rod market had a sharp rise in importing market this year. The gross import volume in the first seven-month was more than 22 million tons, growing 40% over the same period last year. The result indicated market demand is heating up, among the import goods wire rod imports from Japan reached 53,000 tons, accounting for 23.7% of total import volume, ranking first. Followed by Russia, Thailand and Korea ranking from second to fourth, and the import volume was 42,000 tons, 39,000 tons and 20,000 tons respectively. However, some market investors pointed out that though the domestic wire rod market demand was blooming in the first half of the year, a slide situation began in July. The import volume of the second half of this year is expected to be less than that of the first half.
