2011 First Half US Fastener Import and Export Overview

According to the statistics of IFI, the U.S. fastener gross import value from January to June in 2011 was USD2.09 billion, increasing 29.9% on a year-over-year basis; the import volume was 1.43 billion pounds, increasing 23.7% on a year-over-year basis. The export volume of US fasteners in the first half also went up to USD1.44 billion, exhibiting a YoY increase of 16.9%. But, the export volume showed a sharp decline to 793 million pounds, exhibiting a YoY decline of 30.4%. IFI indicated, the US fastener gross export volume in the first half dropped because the export volume to Canada reduced 40.2%, though the export value increased 12.9% on a year-over-year basis.
