In 2013 the total industrial production of Wenzhou was RMB16.73 billion (up 13% over the corresponding period), which was 9.15% higher than the domestic growth rate of China at 3.85%. In the first half of 2014, the total industrial production value continued to grow. The growth was faster than the average growth of the domestic Chinese industries.

According to the Customs of Wenzhou city, Wenzhou exported 15,120 tons of steel fasteners in 2013 (up 9.62% over the corresponding period) or exported USD31.25 million worth of products (up 5.74% over the corresponding period). During the first 7 months of 2014, Wenzhou exported 8,205.3 tons of fasteners (up 10.04% over the corresponding period), or exported USD17.677 million worth of products (up 8.29% over the corresponding period). Major growth was resulted from the export trade with Brazil, Russia, Uzbekistan etc.
