“All-Out Love for Mentally Disabled Children”

TFTA Helps MDC March Toward Next 20 Years

by Tanya Shih, Fastener World Inc.

Head of TFTA Education Committee Mr. Chen (also the GM of Gwo Lian Machinery) was the convener of the public event for taking care of Mentally Disabled Children (MDC) this time. Under his calling, TFTA members came to join the first meaningful event held by TFTA in 2014 for public welfare, creating a touching experience and wonderful atmosphere among all attendees.

Eden Foundation has been dedicated to the service provided for MRC for 20 years. For sharing the happiness of the growth of MRC as well as helping disadvantaged minorities and their families, Eden Foundation gave the “All-Out Love for Mentally Disabled Children” fund-raising night gala at Kaohsiung Seasbay Beach Resort on May 4th joined and sponsored by reps from the alumni association of Royal Roads University in Southern Taiwan, Gwo Lian Machinery, Ching Chan Optical Technology, Taiwan Fastener Trading Association (TFTA), and HSK Technology.

A medical research shows that one out of 15 children is likely to be mentally disabled (sometimes called Angels That Fly Slowly). It is really difficult for a family with a MDC, as it may cause family disagreement. Accordingly, providing consultation and early treatment for these families and helping these “angels” get their first rehab footwear are the mission statements of the foundation. The live activity was full of the excitement for the healthy growth of MDC.

Eden forecast that it would spend nearly NTD7 million of fund on helping the finance of 553 families with MDC, their joint assessment by professional teams, and medical treatment. Being the convener of this event, GM of Gwo Lian Machinery Mr. Chen supported the “Project of Helping Children Minorities “ via purchasing dining vouchers of the night gala. The event was very successful with over 1,000 vouchers being purchased. One TFTA member said, “The event was meaningful and was the most direct way for us to help the society and support the minorities beyond our business range.”
