Fastener Fair at Global Crossroads

2014-04-07

During Fastener Fair Turkey many of the exhibitors were upbeat about this first show in Istanbul: the most frequent comment, "it was exceeding expectations". Looking firstly at the numbers, 135 exhibitors occupied Hall 11 of the IFM Istanbul Expo Centre. Turkish companies accounted for close to half the exhibitor total. International exhibitors hailed from fifteen countries, most notably from Germany, Italy, France, North America, Taiwan, India and China. The first, strongly positive, impression of the show was the high presentational quality of stands, with many Turkish companies committing strongly to projecting their capabilities at the event. The strength of Turkey's fastener manufacturing base was reflected not only in the range of local product on show but also the number of international manufacturing technology suppliers drawn to participate. The two day show recorded 1,700 visitors, 70% of whom were local, while the remainder came from 54 different countries, mainly from the EU but with a number of buyers from Middle Eastern markets.

The next Fastener Fair Turkey 2014 will take place from 20th – 21st November 2014 at the same venue, the IFM – Istanbul Expo Centre. After the 2014 event, Fastener Fair Turkey will adopt a two-year cycle. The show is designed to complement the world's leading exhibition for the fastener and fixing industry, Fastener Fair Stuttgart, as a dedicated event for this industry sector in Eurasia. Istanbul is without question a strategic crossroads in an economy that has grown strongly in recent years. While it clearly faces both economic and political challenges Turkey has huge potential and holds a unique position in its trading relationships with Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
