PSM International FLANGEFORM® sheet metal fasteners are being used to reduce construction labor on utility scale solar projects. We help scrub cost from tracker, racking and mounting structures by replacing loose hardware with captive nuts & studs. This shifts a portion of the assembly labor from the field to the factory where it is less expensive, and quality is easier to control. Solar tracker and racking end users are expecting reductions in the cost of these systems, and the installation labor required to install them.

 

FLANGEFORM® is an ideal fastener for these expectations. It was originally developed for automotive and appliance applications with similar requirements; high strength attachments in steel sheet up to 4MM thick and low applied cost. Mechanical performance exceeds rivnuts & studs or self-clinching fasteners. Note that stainless versions have been developed for the solar industry in M6 – M10 (¼ - 3/8”) sizes. PSM International provides installation tooling tailored to the customer’s part design and production volume. Roll forming or stamping are the typical fabrication processes used. We have designed tooling for use in roll forming lines, stamping dies, or secondary operations and dedicated presses.
